The Reason Why This Girl Decided To Take Her Own Life Will Leave You In Tears.
Brittany Maynard is 29-years-old, and on November 1, 2014 she will take her own life. This is because Brittany has a deadly form of inoperable brain cancer known as glioblastoma multiforme. Regardless of the treatment she would receive, the tumor would eventually end her life. The cancer would kill her slowly and painfully.
After her diagnosis on January 1, 2014, she and her husband decided to move from their home in San Francisco, California, to Oregon. There, she could take advantage of the state’s doctor assisted suicide laws.
Brittany says that shortly after she married her husband Dan in 2012, is when she began to get consistent and severe headaches.
It was after a New Year’s Eve 2013 trip up to wine country that she found out she had a brain tumor.
Reluctantly Brittany and her family made the decision to move to Oregon to access the state’s death with dignity laws.
For the remaining weeks of her life Brittany is taking the time to say goodbye to the people in her life, and also to advocate for the right of individuals to end their own lives.
