The Joy of Choice: Selecting Between Opaque, Faceted and Transparent Christmas Light Bulbs
[Music] Hi, I’m Eric with
Christmas Lights Etc. Among the many choices
you have in buying C7 or C9 Christmas lights,
one is what kind of finish or lens style you
want on your bulbs. In the old days, the
classic choices were opaque sometimes called
ceramic lenses, and transparent lenses which
let you see the filament inside the bulb. Wel, l today you have those
same choices plus a third one, faceted! So which one is
right for you? Let’s take a look! Let’s start by comparing
two lens styles. Faceted and
smooth opaque. You can get both of
these lens styles in the Wintergreen Lightings line
of OptiCore® LED Christmas Light bulbs. Both are beautiful. With diamond-faceted bulbs,
you get a dazzling glow that sparkles like ice.
With the smooth opaque
bulbs, you get a softer elegant glow that people say
looks more like classic incandescent bulbs
than any LED light they’ve ever seen. Faceted lenses are
also available in our Kringle Tradition’s® line of
Christmas light bulbs. So what about those
transparent lenses? Well, you can still
get those too! And in LED no less! Wintergreen Lighting’s
FlexFilament® line of Christmas lightsfeaturese
bulbs made out of lightweight transparent
polyflex PET. This plastic is
shatterproof yet it still lets you see the
filament inside. And what a filament
it is! It looks like one
of the old-style incandescent filaments
but this curved filament is lined with LEDs. So you still get the same
Edison bulb look of the old-fashioned bulbs but
with all of the Energy savings of LED. So which one is
right for you? Well, there’s no right or
wrong answer to that. It all depends on the
look you’re going for. Faceted, transparent, and
opaque, they’re all great and they’re all ideal for
decorating roof lines and driveways, large
Christmas trees, pathways, patios, and more! So look around, whichever
one you choose you’re going to get lights that you’re going to
love for many seasons to come.
