Woke Bill Kristol rains on corporate bonuses, is bitten by old tweet
We’ve heard plenty of Democrats and liberal pundits try to spin corporate bonuses as a bad thing, and frankly, it’s not that surprising to find The Weekly Standard’s Bill Kristol jumping on the train too.
Don’t the $1000 bonuses suggest the big corporations didn’t really need a tax cut for capital investment? If they’re so flush with cash perhaps they didn’t need a tax cut at all? And if we just want to borrow from the future to give out money today, why the corporate middle man?

Hey, who’s shocked to learn that Kristol made Salon’s list of “25 conservatives actually worth following on Twitter” alongside other conservative luminaries like Jennifer Rubin and Ana Navarro?
This is coming from Bill effing Kristol. https://t.co/9Zox7QzcmK

Reducing taxes is ALWAYS the right thing to do. It's not government's money, Bill, it's ours. You used to believe that. How far you have fallen in your hatred of Trump, the man who literally saved America. Had Hillary been elected our Republic would be over. https://t.co/OxrXODAQFV

This is why you don't make shitty arguments for your policies and attempt "bipartisanship." It opens you up to criticisms that otherwise wouldn't exist.
Tax cuts are necessary because taxation is theft, and as purveyors of morality, we should value consent.
'nuff said. https://t.co/gccHGMg71R— T.J. Eckert (@EckertTJ) December 23, 2017
#TrumpDerangementSyndrome has fully fried what's left of Kristol's brain. Then again, all thru the Obama years, the Left was patting Kristol on the back for insisting that raising taxes was somehow a great concept. https://t.co/NiXdqneTxX

It's called confidence. Businesses have confidence in the future, to build, expand, & hire more people. If they don't have confidence they save money for a rainy day. That's why the corp tax cut needed to be permanent, so businesses can compete w the world & make long-term plans.

Kristol is clueless. Corporate tax reduction is needed to make American companies competitive with other countries. Corp rates in the US are highest in world. Giving a $1000 bonus to employees does not mean lots of cash. Its equivalent to 1 week wages. https://t.co/sdJ5hVaI83

The goal of the corporate tax cut was not only to stimulate capital investment.
Indeed, corporations are flush with cash right now with or without that cut.
The impact on capital spending will be minimal. The reason the corporate tax cut was important was competitiveness. https://t.co/OxJnYbwBNM— G.M. Fyden (@TheCopyGhost) December 23, 2017
No, Billy. Listen up. The $1000 bonuses suggest the big corporations need to incentivize their already-trained workers to stay put, in the face of a deregulated, low-tax economy which has empowered said workers and their friends and small businesses and charities and … https://t.co/xJoF6I1In3
