That tweet puts things into perspective, doesn’t it? The New York Times is reporting that an earthquake has been detected in North Korea, but just about every other media outlet is taking note that the “earthquake” is centered around the site of a previous nuclear test.

Hearing North Korea may have just tested a nuclear bomb? Any confirmation?

Seeing some early kiloton estimates for this North Korean blast (10 KT). Hiroshima = 13.

While we wait for the gravity of this news to set in and for the president to address the nation tomorrow night, let’s see what Twitter has to say.

North Korea conducted a nuke test? What difference, at this point, does it make?

— Jon Gabriel (@ExJon) February 12, 2013

Good timing for Obama’s State of the Union announcement of unilateral nuke cuts.

— Michael Goldfarb (@thegoldfarb) February 12, 2013

Ok. Who made a YouTube video to provoke North Korea?

— Amy (@CAAmyO) February 12, 2013

They’ll tell him in the morning. RT @theh2: I wonder if anyone’s told Obama the Norks set off a nuke?

— John Ekdahl, Jr. (@JohnEkdahl) February 12, 2013

So, what — if anything — will Obama say about North Korea in the SOTU?

— Jonah Goldberg (@JonahNRO) February 12, 2013

I’m thinking Obama will cite Nork nuke test as proof the Republicans underfunded something.

— Jonah Goldberg (@JonahNRO) February 12, 2013

CNN talking about a Bacon festival right now?! Unbelievable.

— Ross Neumann (@rossneumann) February 12, 2013

No worries — apparently we were expecting this, according to CNN’s Elise Labott.

US was expecting nuclear test by #NorthKorea.Just this morning, one senior official said “test could come at any moment”

North Korea explodes 3rd nuclear weapon. And they have a rocket that can reach California. I wish I had a joke here.
