Wen Changlin and Zhang Feng met while Wen was caring for Zhang’s sick father. Zhang was only 15 when she met the older Chinese medicine practitioner (he was 60). The two bonded, but Wen kept a respectful distance from the younger girl. After her dad died, though, she simply couldn’t hold her love in any more… and asked Wen to marry her. She was 27 and he was 72.
Aware of the age gap, Wen was hesitant to accept the proposal. He knew others in the village would talk and Zhang’s mother disapproved of the match.
But Zhang told him, “I want to take care of you for your remaining years, and I want to live with you.”
Zhang was head over heels for Wen. She found out she was pregnant and the two married.
They named him Tian, which means “heaven.”

Zhang’s mother came around and is now living with the married couple, helping them take care of their newborn son.
Despite the age gap, Wen and Zhang are happily married.

Love comes in all shapes and sizes. We can never judge someone for who they love… even if it does seem, at the very least, a little bit strange.
